Keeping an eye on their cycles after tubal reversal microsurgery is something not all women understand the whys and wherefores. They know they may stay in a hospital for one or two days for post op recovery as indicated by their doctor. They also know their bodies need several weeks of limited activity for their bodies to actually heal from the tubal ligation reversal surgery. But when their cycles are involved, they may not know just what is happening to their bodies.
While being in a rush to get pregnant right away, women having gone through the tubal ligation reversal surgery really should wait till they have had at least two complete cycles to try. It may seem like everything is back to normal quickly but still it is best to wait. It takes about 4 to six weeks for all the incisions both inside as well as outside to heal completely.
Although it is usually best to wait for a couple complete cycles after tubal reversal surgery, some women discover they quickly become pregnant, maybe even as soon as there first cycle. Then there are the others who discover that even after six months or more, they still haven't become pregnant.
If it has been six months or more and they have not gotten pregnant, then it is best to have a doctor check for other concerns that may be affecting the woman and why she can't conceive. Sometimes, it comes down to the length of time from the original operation to have the tubes tied. It just seems to be easier for those that have more recently had the original operation than for those who may have had it ten or more years ago.
What a doctor will do, if after 6 months and the woman is still having difficulty actually getting pregnant, is inspect her fallopian tubes again to see if they are fully open and nothing untoward has happened since the procedure took place. If they discover that these are okay, then there may be some other underlying cause which is preventing the woman from getting pregnant. Women who are worried or become anxious because they are not getting pregnant as soon as they would like will often find it much more difficult to conceive than those that don't.
Yet although a woman may be having a period every month, it does not necessarily mean that she is in fact ovulating. So they should be wary and not rush head long into thinking that they are pregnant just because their period has not started on the day it was meant to. Sometimes even the slightest alteration in a person's life can cause their ovulation cycle to go off the rails.
One more thing that is a possibility, and for which your doctor will need to keep his eyes open, is that after tubal ligation reversal surgery, some women will have a tubal pregnancy. But this only happens in three to five percent of all women and should not be a large worry.
To keep track of your cycles after tubal reversal is done, you should be using an ovulation prediction kit. Follow the instructions of it and your doctor to best know when you are ovulating and when you get pregnant. One more concern in closing...you should contact your doctor if your period is late by a minimum of two days if this happens soon after resuming periods. Your doctor will be able to carry out a pregnancy test and hopefully give you the good news.
