Although Bulgaria has often become associated in recent years with being a place where students go for cheap holidays. This beautiful country has so much now to offer to those who are looking for somewhere different for their next holiday.
The main reason for why so many people are now choosing to visit this country which is part of Eastern Europe is that it has some of the world's most beautiful and unspoilt beaches. Yet there is so much more that one can do when visiting here than just laying on a beach. Why not spend time exploring its beautiful countryside either on horseback or by hiking along the many trails that are available for you to use.
Compared to other countries in Europe the weather in Bulgaria is very temperate, but does have extremes. During the summer it is hot and dry, whilst during the winter months it becomes cold and damp. To avoid these extremes in the weather it is best to visit Bulgaria between the months of April and the middle of June.
However, if you want to get some sun then going to Bulgaria between the middle of June and September should be considered. But be aware that the costs of accommodation increase and if you don't book well in advance then getting accommodation will be very difficult indeed. In fact if you intend to visit any of Bulgaria's Black Coast resorts book your accommodation several months in advance to ensure that you get exactly what you want.
However, if you would like to see a whole different side to Bulgaria then think about arranging a trip in September. This is when fruit and vegetables are plentiful and the colors of the countryside begin to change. Also actually getting the accommodation you want will be far easier and also be much less expensive as well.
For those who want like to try their luck at skiing then the resorts in Bulgaria are gaining in popularity with skiers from around Europe. Again if you want to go skiing during the height of the season it is best to book sooner rather than later. The main ski season runs from the middle of December and can last well in to April in Bulgaria.
To get to Bulgaria could not be any simpler as you will soon discover nearly every major airport in Europe is offering direct flights to Sofia Airport. Along with Bulgaria Air (the national airline that took over from Balkan Airlines in 2002) many of the top budget airlines in Europe have regular flights to Bulgaria as well.
For those wishing to visit Bulgaria by car need to be aware that a road tax has to be paid upon entering and leaving the country. So be prepared and take plenty of the necessary Bulgarian coinage in order to pay these costs.
