The highlight of most parties is the activities. This will get all of the children's attention. It would be better if the activities are related to the theme. For example, if you are having a circus themed party, you can have a clown and even games like pin the tail on the donkey.

Food and birthday cake are essential in a party. I am sure your child and his friends will enjoy themselves seeing that the cake is related to the theme. However, it is not necessary that all food items should match.

I am sure you will have fun coming out with ideas for a themed party. The most important aspect if a themed party is creativity. After choosing your theme, all you need to do is gather some people and brainstorm about the things you should get and how you should go about decorating.
