Every child in the house will be very intent on learning what their back to school room assignments will be. They need this information so that they can make plans to sit by friends and know how many people returned to the school from last year. Some kids know that their best friend moved away, but some kids might have been moved out of class because there were problems that had to be dealt with.

Some back to school room assignments are viewed as an indication that kids are growing up. In grade school, the students might have had one teacher that taught them throughout the school year on a variety of subjects. The upper level grades have back to school room assignments that might task the student with changing classes several times a day. This new freedom is viewed as favorable by those who are experiencing this new responsibility for the first time.

The back to school room assignments might also mean that students lose contact with friends that they have been in classes with since kindergarten. Parents have to take special care during this emotional transition to assure their child that the friendships are not over. The child might feel at a loss because their trusted friend is not around. It could be that the friend helped them with homework problems or was there to listen when the child was stressed out right before an exam.

Some parents make sure that they are standing in the hall when the backs to school room assignments are posted. They want to ensure that their child was assigned the teacher that was listed as their choice on the enrollment paperwork that they filled out at the end of the preceding school year. Some parents feel animosity toward some teachers because other siblings were taught by them and had great difficulty passing the class.

These parents feel that the room assignment lists will give them options to deal with problems in the family before they have a chance to take a foothold. The parents might choose to talk to the teacher before classes start or ask the school administrators to change the room assignments and the parents might be required to thoroughly explain why this move is necessary. Some teachers have lost their jobs when some explanations are made because the teacher had been reported by other students for treating them unfairly during the school day.

When the back to school room assignments are made for those entering kindergarten some parents feel that these lists give will give their child a sense of belonging. The child can be shown where their name is on the list and quite possibly, the parent could show them exactly where they will be sitting in the class on the first day of school. The child will be so thrilled by seeing their name on the list that they will not have any problems in leaving their Mom for the day.
