GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It is a technology that is used to track down people and things. MySpace and Facebook have already taken measures to integrate the technology, by introducing the mobile version of their sites. The primary aim in this integration is to allow user generated content to be uploaded efficiently and conveniently from where the user is.

While GPS technology is a relatively new and great way to keep track of children, elderly relatives, important commercial arrivals and departures etc, it may become quite an annoying applied science for the general public. This is because, if the technology is used by unscrupulous marketers, they can target location-specific advertisements to each GPS mobile phone user.
